Every woman has her own reasons for smoking. Every woman can find her own way of quitting and staying smoke-free in her own time. I am really proud that I was able to quit all on my own when I was pregnant. But then my daughter was born and I started smoking again. I knew I needed help to quit for good.
What Worked for Liz
It took me three months to stop smoking. At first, I gradually cut back on the number of cigarettes I smoked each day. Because I wanted to keep my kids as smoke-free as possible, I started smoking outside. Thinking about my kids motivated me to keep cutting back and I went to the doctor to ask about the patch. I realized that when I quit during pregnancy, I quit for my daughter. Now, I am finding reasons to quit for myself.
