The Centre of Excellence for Women’s Health is focused on improving girls' and women’s health and increasing gender equity, through applying SGBA+ and gender transformative approaches, and advancing sex and gender science.
We work with research, policy, practice, and community partners to mobilize evidence to action on women’s health issues.
We have developed and tested approaches to incorporating sex, gender, equity and gender transformative principles into existing responses to substance use.
We are leaders on trauma informed and gender informed approaches in the substance use field.
We are facilitating pan-Canadian action to address the root drivers of violence against women and girls.
Maternal health is an important focus of our work, and we facilitate a virtual team focused on maternal determinants of health, substance use, and prevention of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
We are committed to honouring Indigenous knowledge systems and ways of knowing in our work, and responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, and the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls’ Calls for Justice.
We mobilize evidence to develop courses, offer webinars and create other materials applicable to real world practice.
